<p>I have three children under the age of 6. The oldest one reads quite well. The middle one isn&#8217;t in school yet, and the youngest one is only 7 months old. We generally do our family scripture reading out of the &#8220;readers&#8221; for the children (although lately we&#8217;ve been reading the real Book of Mormon with the oldest one). As we&#8217;ve read the stories, I&#8217;ve noticed some funny and/or strange pictures throughout. I thought we had older versions of the readers, however, when I went on the Church site, the pictures are still the same. Some of the wording has been modified, but not the pictures.</p>
<p>Anyway, here are a few that stood out:</p>
<p align="center"><img title="bom_reader_1996" src="http://mormonopia.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/bom_reader_1996.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="420" /><br />
<em>This is from the <a href="http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=e59c5f74db46c010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&amp;locale=0&amp;sourceId=15e5c106dac20110VgnVCM100000176f620a____">Book of Mormon Stories</a> and is first one that I noticed. I was a little surprised to see this kid (on the left) breastfeeding. I know that it is natural, but I guess it wasn&#8217;t something I expected to see in the Book of Mormon Stories book.</em></p>
<p align="center"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-71" title="dc_reader_apostasy_01_1995" src="http://mormonopia.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/dc_reader_apostasy_01_1995.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="445" /><br />
<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-72" title="dc_reader_apostasy_02_1995" src="http://mormonopia.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/dc_reader_apostasy_02_1995.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="436" /><br />
<em>These are from the <a href="http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=e59c5f74db46c010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&amp;locale=0&amp;sourceId=0e7b0f9856c20110VgnVCM100000176f620a____">Doctrine and Covenants Stories</a>. I thought these were a little odd as the people &#8220;who changed the teachings&#8221; obviously were leaders of other churches. The Church has tried to distance itself from this sort of wording/imaging.</em></p>
<p align="center"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-73" title="nt_reader_jesus_heals_deaf_dumb_1980" src="http://mormonopia.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/nt_reader_jesus_heals_deaf_dumb_1980.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="413" /><br />

This may be sacriligeous, but Jesus looks like he&#8217;s giving the guy a wet willy</em></p>
