“Mormon mommies have the best blogs”

I’m sure many of you have seen this by now, but recently the Toronto Star had an article about how Mormon “mommy blogs” are among the most popular of that category of blogs. The general thinking is that family is important to us, and Mormon moms can be quite crafty. Lots of non-Mormon women apparently like this.

It’s an interesting read. Check it out at the Toronto Star website.

Thomas S Monson pumpkin carving

Last year I came across a web site that showed a picture of Gordon B Hinckley carved into a pumpkin. This year, I’ve come across someone else who has done one of Thomas S Monson. Below is just a thumbnail. Click on through to Jay Ball’s web site to see a larger version.

Mormon Prophet Tattoos

You’ve got to see it to believe it… a man has tattoos of Joseph Smith to Gordon B. Hinckley tattooed on his back!

Nothing brings out Christian charity more than Church basketball…

If you follow the NothingWavering.org feed (which is where most of you are reading this), then you would have seen the most recent 9th Ward cartoon. It was particularly funny for me since I am currently a bishop, and there are bunch of guys who get together most Thursday nights and play basketball at the church. Thankfully we haven’t gotten into a fight like that 🙂

Temple Square ad

Someone at work saw this in a travel trade magazine. He’s commented before that he will occasionally see information promoting Salt Lake City as a destination for conferences. The ad has a nice illustration of temple square. I didn’t say this to my co-worker, but it made me wonder why the Church does this… Is there any money in it? Is it strictly a missionary tool?

Gordon B Hinckley pumpkin carving

Brett Nordquist, a member from Seattle, is good at carving pumpkins. He even carved one of Gordon B. Hinckley:

Visit Brett’s site to see a larger version of that carving, and others that he has done.
